I'm signing off the internets

Sun Jan 13, 2008, 4:01 PM
Hey, if anyone cares, I ain't goin' be round here no more. If I want to succeed in my academic pursuits, let alone my overblown artistic ambitions, I've got to stop spending time on frivolous net pursuits. Therefore, I am now blocking Youtube (my #1 time wasting enemy), deviantart, xkcd, questionable content, megatokyo, scarygoround, etc. If I get bored, I can write, take pictures, read an unassigned textbook, or fiction, art magazines or political magazines or literary magazines. Sure, I do these things already, but not enough in proportion to time-wasting net use. Or I can even work on improving my car's handling or work more to try to make enough money to buy a heavily used sports car. But none of these things require sitting in front of a computer screen for hours upon endless hours. And thank God for that.

If you got something to say, email me at tanfakatanacat (AT) yahoo (dot) com

Oh, no hurry. I'm sorry if I've bogged down your inbox with all my sub-par (you can tell my mood by my adjectives for my art) poems. Though the last four I just sent are pretty close to being finished (and hopefully good, my professor thinks so)

ps I'm sort of feeling down about writing -having neglected it so long- as well, but since I've received very good scores on my academic writing this quarter I am "guardedly optimistic" as they say.
You know, on the other hand I also recently looked at my older writing and some of it I think 'hey wow that's pretty decent,' but a lot of it I just think 'what on earth this is awful.' I guess this implies my standards for what constitute good has gone up, which I think is (probably?) a good thing.

I also had a really funny experience with my English midterm. I wrote it in a night and a morning, but the essay portion was truly started and finished the morning it was due. I thought it was probably mostly rubbish, and had my mom read it to make sure it was decent before I left. I did not read it once I had finished writing. Weeks and weeks later we got the midterms back. I had recieved an A, so I was curious if it really was good. I started reading as I left class and sat down at a table to finish. I was astonished: the paper flowed perfectly and was very well written, and felt sort of like reading something by someone else that was enjoyable. See, this is kind of ironic, because I'm trying to write about reading something I wrote, and it's late and I'm exhausted from preparing for and writing my English final (which I'm pretty sure is no where near as good) so my current writing is actually really terrible. I suppose it's a good thing I decided to check dev one last time instead of start my LJ final. :P
enough random I'm sleepin

I wanted to say something helpful here... but I don't have much to say but "good luck".

Are you going to be around the state of CA for the winter break?

When do your finals end? I have one final on Wednesday, and then the rest of them are due on Thursday (before I leave for my flight)

Tommorrow, at 10 am (they end)! I am not prepared! I must get up at 5:45 in the morning! I've got 2 hours to prepare now before I sleep, and two hours tommorrow morning to get reading and get to class, and 2 hours to take the final. 2 painful hours of wishing I had something memorized to remember.
Ah, art history, how happy I will be to retire from thy studies.

Oh, and yes I will definately be here. And I might be back at your house before you are, since I need to return your dad's camera now that I'll have time, and of course upload the 'ol vid to youtube and incidentally edit the skate video. Hopefully the footage is as good as I remember.

Oh yes, that would be awesome. Well... since you will be done tomorrow... I may load you up on poems and you must/might be able to critique them for me.... yes? No, seriously. I want to do well on this project and I only have a week to make my poems better.

So any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking forward to the video. What does your next term look like?

Haha. My mood transformed into an unexplainable giddiness last night. (perhaps due to an inordinate amount of Super Smash Bros?) Anyway, thanks for the comedic slap in the face. I have to get all my poems and papers done by next Thursday.
